Old Ticonderoga by Nathaniel Hawthorne

Hawthorne is known mainly for “The Scarlet Letter”. But he was a very prolific writer. This piece resulted from his visit to the ruins of Fort Ticonderoga. It tells of the reality of the place mixed with his daydreams of what the Fort was like under the French, the British, and finally the Continental army.
